Description

Lynchburg Patriots Girls Basketball — 2026–27 Season

The Lynchburg Patriots is a Christ-centered homeschool basketball program committed to giving girls the opportunity to compete at a level comparable to public and private school athletics. Our goal extends beyond basketball—we want to help each player grow in skill, confidence, discipline, character, faith, and her ability to be part of a team.

Our coaches are unpaid volunteers who give their time because they care about investing in these young women and creating a positive, competitive environment where each player can develop both on and off the court.

Team Divisions

We plan to offer four teams this season:

  • Developmental: 6th grade and younger

  • Middle School: 7th–9th grade

  • Junior Varsity: 8th–11th grade

  • Varsity: 8th–12th grade

Because several age groups overlap, placement will be based on each player’s age, ability, experience, developmental needs, roster needs, and overall best fit within the program.

Our goal is to avoid traditional tryouts and cuts whenever possible. The first week of practice will be used to evaluate players and determine team placement, with assignments expected by the end of that week.

Season Schedule

Practices for Middle School, JV, and Varsity begin October 20, with Heritage Baptist Church serving as our primary practice facility. The Developmental team will begin in December.

Current practice schedule:

  • Middle School: Tuesday, 4:00–5:30 p.m.; Thursday, 7:00–8:30 p.m.; Friday, 4:00–5:30 p.m.

  • JV: Tuesday, 4:30–6:00 p.m.; Thursday, 7-9PM.; Friday, 4:30–6:00 p.m.

  • Varsity: Monday, 7-9PM, Tuesday, 5-7PM, Thursday, 7-9PM.; Friday, 5-7PM.

The first 30 minutes of Tuesday and Friday Varsity practices will be devoted to conditioning, devotion and strategy time. Practice times may occasionally change because of facility availability, games, tournaments, or other scheduling needs.

Tournaments and Travel

Planned tournament dates include:

  • East Coast Preseason Tournament: November 13–14 in Inwood, West Virginia

  • Virginia Homeschool State Tournament: February 25–26 in Glen Allen, Virginia

  • National Tournament: March 8–12 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee

Additional regular-season games are still being finalized and will be added to the schedule as they are confirmed.

Registration Fees

Registration for the Middle School, JV, and Varsity programs is $950 per player. This amount includes the planned Gatlinburg trip and allows families to fundraise toward the full season cost. Families who do not plan to participate in the Gatlinburg cabin arrangement may opt out of the $300 Gatlinburg portion of the registration fee.

The Developmental program registration fee is $150 per player.

Players may also secure sponsors or donations to help offset their fees. Fifty percent of the sponsorship or donation amount collected by a player will be credited directly toward her registration balance.

Uniforms

We plan to purchase new uniforms for the JV team this season. Players will be asked to submit their preferred size and number; however, specific numbers cannot be guaranteed.

Our Purpose

Patriots Basketball is about more than building successful teams. We want to provide homeschool athletes with a place to belong, compete, improve, and form lasting relationships while representing Christ through their attitude, effort, sportsmanship, and conduct.

We are excited about the season ahead and look forward to continuing to build a program that challenges our players, supports our families, and gives every girl the opportunity to grow through the game of basketball.
